caps - 3.29.08

Today was a CAPs day...it's the shelter that we volunteer at once a month to take pics of the sweet cats and dogs. The full name is Citzens for Animal Protection. If you know anyone looking, I'm going to add them here...just in case! There were a couple that were especially cuddly if you want details.

It's tough to do it emotionally for me...you just want to pack them all up and take them home, but hopefully getting them on the website helps then to find their new and even better homes. :)

Here are the "headshots" and the website will include all the details later tonight or tomorrow morning.

i heart goats

A couple of weeks ago I went to the rodeo to see Rascal Flatts. If you know me, you know I'm not a big country fan. These guys were great though! And I even knew a bunch of their songs.

You're thinking, ok, great...but what the heck does that have to do with goats? Well, in my opinion the best part of any zoo, rodeo or event at my mom's school for little kiddos is...the petting zoo! I will charge in front of a little kid to cuddle with a baby goat, cow or wallaby. They are probably scared anyway, just protecting the little ones! :)

So, here are some goat pics thru the years. Found these when I went looking for Scott and Amy's big day! haha

scott, do you take amy?

Last weekend Annemarie and I went over to visit with my Mormor (grandma in Swedish)...and she told AP about my cabbage patch kids' wedding, complete with wedding dress, tux, guests and a reception! Yep, I was always a huge dork!!! :) I dug up a few of the pics and now they're here for your laughing pleasure!

Here are some of the polaroids...
And here's the reception...I am laughing at myself right now!!! What is that bow thing on my head??? Did I pull it off the hula hoop altar?!?! I love the 80s!

gaigespages is up to date!

Finally!!! I've uploaded the 18 new albums with pics all the way from the beginning of February. It's a busy couple of months! I've had a few fun nights out in Houston, been to California (twice!), Portland and was in a photoshoot for HP! :)

So, what's my excuse for taking so long? Well, my internet connection at home had been AWFUL! Uploading pics was taking forever so I'd get annoyed and give up. AP asked if I had secured my network and I was like, nah...never had done it. Both my neighbors have wireless networks...so they wouldn't be wahoo'ing it from me! Ok, silly, naive me!!! I locked it down and it's been like going from dial up to broadband again! My connection is amazing!!! So, hopefully, I'll update more often now and get back on track! :) YEA!

Here are a few screenshots of all the "hard" work it takes to keep the website up and going!
First, I upload the pics, add captions (haven't done this yet...working on it) and save the little version of the pics...
Next, I email myself for the links...
Then, I update the HTML...that's a lot of text!

Next, upload the HTML to gaigespages.com...

Finally, they are posted for all to enjoy (and steal for their myspace pages)!

who's walking who?

This weekend was exhausting. I think I sat still for about 5 minutes from the time I left work on Friday until I'm here, writing about it. I'll post more about the rest of the weekend (including a fun photoshoot for HP, crawfish at Onion Creek, driving to the airport at 5am, a photography class and the Hotel Cafe Tour) , but had to share this hilarious video. (you have to wait until the end of the post for it!)!

Sunday went to brunch with Nita and AP to visit Camille at her new job at Daily Review Cafe...they need to photoshop her into the group photo ASAP! Loved the location and the food was delicious! I had the crab cakes...yum!

After brunch, Nita and I went back to my place to pick up Luna and Gidget for the Humane Society dog walk downtown.

We got there a little late to actually do the walk, but we were perfectly timed to relax on the hill with the pups and watch people, dogs, a frisbee contest and the costume contest. Here's one of the funny pups that actaully looks pretty happy (surprisingly) to be in a "spiderman" outfit. And umm, check out the lobster in the background. :)

So, here's the fun part!!! There was this cute little boy walking around with his German Shepherd. You tell me who was walking who here! Love it!!! We never even saw his parents...just him and his faithful friend walking all around the park. I think my favorite part is Nita and I laughing throughout the video and this was after already watching him for about 10 minutes!

Merry Christmas!

I have a confession to make. I just took down my Christmas tree tonight, yes, March 13! I just love having it up and haven't had the heart to take it down...but with Easter creeping up soon, thought it was about time!! A few years ago, I started collecting ornaments from the cool places I've visited and I label them with the year and who was on the trip too.

Here are a bunch of the ornaments on the tree...

A few international ones from Budapest, Moscow, Tokyo, Prague, Cancun, Heidelberg, etc..

One of my favorites of is from the trip with my mom to Disney World in 2004...

Here are the newest ornaments I've collected from Portland, Costa Rica, Copper Mountain, Park City and the Hearst Castle...

And finally, here's the latest from last weekend. This one was from a beautiful day in Santa Barbara with Annemarie, the best friend and travel partner and Brett, the best photag and guide...

survey says...

...it's a PT Cruiser! It is a cute little car that has lots of space. But, I'm ready to be able to see over traffic again. She's a bit of a low rider.

my new ride

I was in a teeny fender bender last week and dropped my car off at the doctor today. I have a funny little new vehicle for the next few days. Take a guess at what they gave me and I'll post a pic tonight. :)

next stop, Europe

My next adventure...starts a month from yesterday. I'm getting so excited and feeling just a little like I'm running out of planning time. Almost all the hotels are booked, but no trains yet!

I'm kind of a big deal

So, I went to vote last night and it was chaos! Texas never has a say in the primary (we're so late in the game), so this year there was definetely a buzz in the air. The place was insane and people were all lined up outside in the cold.
I have a hard time with seeing people so uncomfortable and confused, so I offered to help corral the cats. Most people were very nice...but one lady reamed me and was SO RUDE! I accidentally sent her to the wrong line and she screamed at me and stormed off. I just don't get how people can be like that. I guess she has other things going on that make her so angry, but there's no excuse to be so awful!
Well, happy ending is, I stuck around and offered to be a delegate in our little precinct caucus. It's my first time to see the process behind the scenes, so I'm really excited! It only means showing up for a Houston meeting and passing on the voice of our neighborhood...but still pretty cool to "represent"!

playing fetch

Luna and Gidget are so much fun! :) Here's a little game of fetch they played at the park with my parents.

And Gidget even got to bring her stick home because it started to rain, but she wasn't finished with our game.
